victims kin stays unscathed in indhar gang attack

RAHIM YAR KHAN: The Indhar gang launched on Saturday an attack on a family member of nine victims, who had lost their lives to the gang’s violence two years ago, and he remained unhurt.

The incident occurred near Maqbool Mor of Chowk Mahi, approximately 60 kilometers from Rahim yar khan.

Reports said Matloob Indhar was on his way to school to drop off his children. As he reached the school near Maqbool Mor, he came under fire from Tanvir Indhar and an accomplice, who were shooting from a nearby sugarcane field.

Matloob managed to escape the gunfire and sought refuge at a nearby police check post. He reported the incident to the police, who arrived at the sugarcane field. However, the dacoits managed to flee towards the Kacha area.Unconfirmed reports suggest that a child is injured in the shooting.

District Police Officer Rizwan Umar Gondal took notice of the incident and ordered the area to be cordoned off. According to police spokesperson Saif Ali Wains, unidentified men had opened fire on Saturday morning. A police contingent arrived at the scene, launched a search operation and provided protection to Matloob.

Police also dispatched an armoured vehicle and force to the petrol pump at Mahi Chowk, where nine people had been fatally shot two years ago.

A relative of the nine deceased victims and the owner of the petrol pump told the media that after the killing of ring leader Janu Indhar, Jameel Indhar and Tanvir Indhar were leading the gang.

He said on Saturday when his brother Matloob was heading to school with his children, the robbers attacked him. He said the DPO contacted him and assured the safety and security of his family members.

On Oct 10, 2021, the gangsters had gunned down nine men at a petrol pump near Chowk Mahi, near the Sindh border.

The victims had been targeted for informing the police about the gang’s criminal activities and hideouts.

According to some locals, the reemergence of the gang since the Oct 10 incident and a major operation against dacoit gangs in the Kacha area, has raised concerns among the local populace.
