Pakistan Workers Federation Joins Global Coalition for Social Justice to Advance Decent Work Worldwide

Lahore: – The National Executive Board (NEB) of the Pakistan Workers Federation (PWF) expresses sincere appreciation to Mr. Gilbert F. Houngbo, Director General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), and the ILO Governing Body for their leadership in establishing the Global Coalition for Social Justice. The PWF is honored to be invited to partake in this transformative initiative, aimed at fostering a business environment that upholds fundamental human rights and advocates for decent work for all.
In alignment with the social dimension of the Sustainable Development Agenda 2030 and the commitment to Leaving No One Behind, the PWF commits to achieving a greater balance among the economic, social, and environmental dimensions of sustainable development. This includes a dedicated effort to significantly reduce inequalities and poverty while addressing essential needs and opportunities globally.
Actively engaged in initiatives promoting social justice and decent work, the PWF collaborates with partners such as the Ministry of Overseas Pakistani & Human Resource Development (OPHRD), Workers’ Employers’ Bilateral Council of Pakistan (WEBCOP), Pakistan Workers Confederation affiliates, All Pakistan Women Association (APWA), and others. Emphasizing legal and social compliances, the PWF acts as a catalyst for industrial development and sustainable enterprise.
Notably, the PWF is currently involved in crafting a new social contract between workers and employers through the WEBCOP platform. This initiative underscores the organization’s dedication to enhancing overall competitiveness, advocating for social justice, and bolstering social protection.
The PWF wholeheartedly endorses Mr. Gilbert F. Houngbo’s call to join the global coalition for social justice. The organization pledges active participation and contributions to the coalition’s goals. The NEB expresses sincere gratitude to the ILO Director-General for extending the invitation, eagerly anticipating collaboration with the ILO and coalition partners. The PWF together with EFP and Governments aims to champion the cause of social justice, creating a harmonious balance among economic, social, and environmental dimensions of sustainable development.
Moreover, the PWF looks forward to continued collaboration with the government of Pakistan and all relevant stakeholders, emphasizing an unwavering commitment to the success of the Decent Work Country Programme IV.
