Over 90,000 females are suffering from breast cancer annually with 40,000deaths

Rahim Yar Khan: Breast cancer is by far the most common cancer in women. Over 90,000 females are suffering from breast cancer annually with 40,000 deaths, which means every ONE out of NINE Pakistani women suffers from breast cancer. However, patients of breast cancer do have high chances of survival if it is detected in the earlier stage. To meet this objective of awareness of breast cancer in the month of October, Health and Safety Society, IUB RYK Campus arranged a seminar and walk in collaboration with Chughtai labs in the main Auditorium on 13th October, 2022.

The guest speaker of the event was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Noreen Kousar who has vast experience in this field. The female students were educated on detecting signs and symptoms of breast cancer on their own. In addition, the precautions and treatments were discussed in detail. Ms. Darakhshan Siraj, Deputy Warden Hostels, Ms. Hira Kanwal, Lecturer CSIT, Ms. Sumera Arshad, Assistant Registrar and Dr. Mariam Akhter, Medical Officer also attended the ceremony.

In the end, Ms. Fasiha Nargis, Deputy Registrar distributed the certificates among the esteemed guests and participants. Director Campus, Mr. Muhammad Umair Ashraf said that this seminar helped raise great attention and support for the awareness among the female community of the campus. He also praised Deputy Director Students Affairs, Syed Awon Bukhari for successful execution of breast awareness seminar and a walk.
